BioIf you know nothing of me, know at least this: I am incurably shiftless; a hopelessly lost dreamer full of talk and bluster, that would love nothing more than to write one truly magnificent thing and thereby, allot some small measure of meaning or purpose into both the world and himself simultaneously. My ambitions are convoluted and often contradictory; as such my baser desires are equally confunded. I feel profoundly out of sync with the world, with myself, with everyone around me. I've been known to retreat readily and often into any number of safe harbors, including but not limited to, the reading or composition of poetry and fiction, immersive video games, philosophical reflection and/or debate, and lots of booze. I feel deeply and depressingly alone, even in crowds of people. I have very little direction and that which I do possess is nominal and vague. I have a mindboggling propensity for wandering, both physically and psychologically. I have a memory like a steel trap, but remain eternally absentminded about even the simplest of obligatory tasks. I've made spinning my wheels in one place into a career, an artform and an addiction, all at the same time. And with all this in mind, I am still maddeningly delusional enough to think that I'm going to make it in this world, wherever this world takes me. I am a dreamer, after all.
Knowing all that and little else, if you still want to be my friend, who am I to turn you away? One does not write in a public journal to be secreted away from the world; for all my shortcomings, I remain logical to a fault, though I suppose that would make it a shortcoming in and of itself.
This journal is an attempt at salvation. It is a concerted effort to bring order and focus into my otherwise aimless existence. My meandering ways have taken their toll on me. I have had enough. While I cannot change who I am, I can try to alter my habits for the better, to force myself into productivity, to find or forge some new and wonderful purpose for living.
I tire of forever being the dog that walks into a room and forgot why it walked in there in the first place. This is my grand endeavor: to remember what it means to be alive. I thought I knew once. I guess we'll find out if I did, indeed.
